About Qigong…

Qi - is our vital life force energy, and gong means diligent practice, skill, and achievement. Qigong is an internal practice of mental focus, deep breathing, and body movement that cultivates our life force energy.

This incredibly beautiful and healing art form helped me recover from debilitating physical pain and mental fatigue in 2020. During and after only a short, gentle practice I felt a sense of peace, happiness, and mental clarity. Understanding and working with energy has changed my life.

The more positive energy we cultivate, the better we feel and everyone around us will feel.

How can it help us…

Qigong and tai chi have positive effects on anxiety, stress, depressive symptoms, and overall quality of life. Practicing significantly improves symptoms of fatigue and sleep quality.

Research suggests that qigong is beneficial for Asthma, Arthritis, Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Headaches, Pain, and a wide variety of common ailments.

Modern life is busy and we are far removed from what is naturally healthy for us. We often don’t have time to cultivate our energy and spirit. If we take a moment to nurture ourselves each day and take care of our Qi, our body and mind can be refreshed and recharged.

Spending the time and learning to focus on our energy now will lead to a healthy and happy life in the present moment, and also as we grow older.

A number of Qigong practices are used for various purposes…

Some examples include:

Internal Qi practice

This is focused on the internal flow of Qi, and how Qi follows the meridian pathways in the body. It is used to strengthen organ function, build vital energy, and immune function.

Daoist Qigong

Qigong comes from a Daoist practice. Daoist qigong practice emphasises the natural flow of energy, and it is not a religious practice as some people may think. The practitioner is focused on natural energy, natural cures, natural resources, and the nature of all things. This kind of qigong focuses on going with the natural flow, both in the exercise and in life. The Daoist practice has two parts: the religious element and the philosophical part, both of which have qigong form; we practice the philosophical part.

Medical Qigong

Therapeutic Qigong is a type of medical qigong. It is a combination of body movements, stretching, and Qi practice that opens energy pathways removes blockages, promotes circulation, and promotes Qi circulation. This type of qigong enhances immune function, metabolism, promotes healing, and leads to longevity. It is also from Daoist practice.
